Title - Be Merciful

One of God's Characteristics/Nature is His mercies (Duet 4:31, Lamentations 3:22-23) and he wants us to be like Him (Matt 5:7)

Even when Jesus came to this world, everything He did was out of mercy Matt 14:14

Characteristics of the merciful 

 1. Open his/her ears to the cry of the needy (Prov 21:13)

2. Visit the Orphans/Widows in their affliction (James 1:27)

3. Share the joy they have in Christ Jesus with others (not stingy rather generous) Mark 1:40-45

4. Follow up with members or coleagues who you haven't heard from in a while or going through one form of trouble

5. Encourage the backsliders

Blessings that can be acquired for being merciful

1. God will answer your prayers
2. You will never be stranded
3. God will fight your battles
4. The law of harvest will catch up with you. (Because Whatever u sow, u shall reap)

Prayer Point:

Father Please help me to be merciful just as you are merciful

God clearly states in the book of Is 42:8, He is God and will not share His Glory with anyone.

The Devil is aware that God is a jealous God (Ex 20:5) and does his best to make man turn contrary to God's word

His main objective is to kill steal & destroy (To Kill dreams and destroy lives)

An example of how he has succeeded in deceiving a lot of people is that the more they kill, the greater their reward in heaven

How the devil deceives christians

1) Money (Quick rich schemes with the use of power, magic)

2) Popularity/Fame 

3) Power (absolute power corrupts absolutely)

4) Acquisition of Material Things

5) Fake Miracles

The devil's luring techniques

1) Put fears into one's heart (e.g.fear of tomorrow)

2) Fear of Rejection

3) Drugs/Drinking/cult

4) starvation/Hunger

5) Watches our weakest moments

Once you give your life to Christ, - Hell breaks loose, -Devil enters into the heart of close companions to discourage you. However, do not loose courage, God is with you always and you will overcome once you stand by Him.

Title - Crossing Over

In the book of Mark 4:35-41, Jesus told His disciples let us cross over

When God wanted the children of Israel out of Egypt, He asked them to Cross over

When God asks you to Cross over, it could be in the form of moving from spiritual sleep to spiritual awakening, from instability to stability, from poverty to wealth e.t.c

For every cross over, be ready to confront obstacles (e.g sea, wind, people in the boat, lake and more could all be form of obstacles).

The of Children Israel were confronted with the red sea, Jonah caused the people on his boat to face storm ( Who is in your boat, Gossipers, Liars, spiritual killers, strange loads) ?. Keep away from such. No time to waste

All You Need when crossing over is Jesus. He will calm the storm in your life and will send The Holy Spirit to guide and direct your steps

Habakkuk 2:2 encourages us to write down our vision which we aim to accomplish (Have a big Expectation) Then you take "Action" Isaiah 1:19

Why Does God want you to Cross Over ?

• Where you are is not your final destination
• There is a big goal to be reached and for every goal there is crown

Title - One Thing is Needful

We May be keeping all of the commandments of God or doing what is right (such as the Rich man in the book of St Luke 18:19-24), Yet One thing he lacked. 

Inability to distribute his wealth to the poor. 

Tithing is one tenth of our income which is necessary

Why do we have to pay Tithe 

1. God Has said it (When we give our tithe it is an Act of obedience) Deut 28:1-14

2. So There will be meat in God's house Malachi 3:8-11

3. So we would not be declared robbers at the Gate of Heaven

4. So God will rebuke the devourer for your sake Numbers 22:12, Malachi 3:11

 5. So we won't bring down curses on ourselves Malachi 3:9

6. So we can be blessed 

7. Giving our tithe&offering may stand as an umbrella for us to prevent rain of affliction falling on us Ps 20:1-4.

Apart from Biblical scriptures, Remember there may be people in need around you. The widows, the less privileged, the homeless, church maintenance, community outreach e.t.c. All of these are part of church responsibilities. You

Title - Stress

We all know Jesus was a super natural human yet  in the book of John 4:6, we are told he was wearied(stressed).

Stress could affect anyone irrespective of your title, status, race, background. etc

Different Types of stress 

• Acute Stress
• Episodic Acute Stress
• Chronic stress

Acute Stress 

It comes from demands and pressures of the recent past and anticipated demands and pressures of the near future.. If not handled carefully could result in Episodic Stress

Could lead to psychologic distress.

Characteristics

i) Always in haste to get things done

 Episodic Acute Stress

There are those, however, who suffer acute stress frequently, whose lives are so disordered that they are studies in chaos and crisis. They're always in a rush, but always late. 

Characteristics those who suffer Episodic Acute Stress 

 i) Always in a rush to get things done yet always late.

ii) Always worried about everything

 iii) Constantly Dwelling on the past

iv) Pessimistic (do not see anything good in anyone or anything)

v) Resistant to Change

vi) Constant headache/Migrane

Chronic stress

This is the grinding stress that wears people away day after day, year after year. Chronic stress destroys bodies, minds and lives.

Those who suffer such are Hopeless. Give up on searching for solutions to their issues. This destroys their body, mind and lifestyle. Such are not in their right mind

 i)Physical and mental state depletes

ii) Could result in death, Suicide & Violence.

iii) Requires medical treatment

If stress is what you live with on a daily basis (especially Chronic stress), it could result into cancerous disease, hypertension, high blood pressure, stroke e.t.c

Solution 

• We must not abandon does going through these problems. Encouragement and follow up is important
• Engage yourself in physical exercise 1Tim 4:8
• Relax Gen 2:3
• Keep Your Hope Alive.Job 14:7
• Remember The promise of God regarding the situation threathening you
• Remember All of God's goodness even in the past
• Ask God for Angelic Assistance

The meaning of comfort

To sooth sorrow or bring consolation when we feel hopeless

When Can You fee Sorrow: 

When Life is in trial, in sin, no salvation, difficulty in school, work, love ones are in hurt, good friends leave. It is easy to be discouraged.

Which is why Jesus sent The Holy Spirit "The comforter" when we are in distress to sooth our pains

I plead with you, Give your life to Christ who is able to take away ALL pains & soothe our sorrows.

Life is FULL of challenges & nobody is exempted. No matter what trials you may be facing, nothing is too difficult for The Mighty God

Title - Goodly/Godly Inheritance

Case Study : Naboth (From 1 kings 29:1-4).

Naboth had a vineyard that was inherited from his ancestral line. However, the king (Ahab) requested his land to plant vegetables. The king offered him huge amount of silver & gold yet he refused.

Why Did Naboth refuse the offer: 

1)Location 

2)Quality 

3) Only thing he has (His inheritance)

Similarly Jesus has died for us. Taken the consequences of our sins our transgressions hence the reward of his salvation is our inheritance.

Some of us have traded our inheritance but there is hope. Remember the prodigal son, though he lost his inheritance, his father restored him everything he lost. similarly, God is our father and is able to restore all that we have lost.

Grace could be by direct divination or by implication

Direct Divination : Grace is that ability (supernatural ability) in a man to do what naturally speaking is impossible

Grace could come in two forms
1. Negatively
2. Positively


Negative: Grace made king Pharaoh harden his heart so God could you use him to display his mighty works in the lives of the children of Israel.
Positive: Whilst apostle Paul found Grace from to fulfill destiny in life.

Grace is:

• God's goodness showered on people who have failed. 
• God's love on those who think they are unlovable.
• The enjoyment of God's assistance when no one is there to help John 5:1-8
• Re-aligns and re-routes your steps according to the purpose of God in your life Acts 9:1-9
• Turns the weak/feeble to a mighty army 1 Sam 22:1-4, 1 Sam 23.
• Takes people as they are and make them as they can be Jer 1:1-5
• Enables and Empowers to fight the enemy and overcome 1Sam 17:45
• Enables us say NO to sin Titus 2:11
• Turns your enemy to your friend Heb 12:14-15

Title - All is Well

Elisha was well known as a man of God.
Set apart with the spirit of the Lord upon him
Through God several miracles were done through him.

In the book of 2 kings 4:8-35, we see how Elisha prophesied into the Life of a childless woman that she would have a son.
1. This woman and her husband were a wealthy couple
2. They communicated and trusted each other's judgement
3. She feared God as she was willing to help the man of God.

Her commitment towards caring for the man of God brought this gift money could not buy (a child)
However, when the child was grown, he fell ill and died. This is to show you at some stage in your life, you will be tested.
The childless woman immediately ran to the man of God knowing God is capable of all things.
Through prayers her dead son was awakened from death.
When you are in distress, don't sit in the valley all by yourself. Cry out to the Lord and He will answer you
He is able to do all things.

There is a curve called failure,
A loop called confusion,
Speed bumps called friends,
Caution lights called family, You will have flats called jobs.

If you have a spare called determination,
An engine called perseverance, Insurance called faith,
A driver called God,
You will make it to a place called success!

1. Separation from God. It is possible for somebody to be coming to church and still experience this kind of death. Gen 3:3

2. Death to the flesh, 1 Cor 15:31. Everyday, every moment of our lives, children of God should die daily to the flesh and be continually sanctified. 

3. Physical Death Heb 9:27.

4. Second Death. The death after judgement, anyone whose name is not written in the book of like will be cast into the lake of fire.

Title - I Shall End Well

There are 3 important periods in person's life, (it has nothing to do with religion, gender or status in the community), these periods happen to everyone. They are the PAST, the PRESENT and the FUTURE. 

Things we need to do/know concerning our past:-
1. Forsake our evil ways. 
2. We must come to Jesus Christ with a clean heart, confessing that there is nothing good in us, and that we want to live for Him. 
3. We must remember the pit that God lifted us from, and appreciate God for it 1 Tim 1:14-17

Things we need to do/know concerning our present:-
1. Do not sell your birthright, your relationship with God is very important! The enemy is trying to get our soul! Whatsoever we do today will affect our future. Pro 27:7, Gen 25:29-34
2. Do not procrastinate the day of your salvation. What you need to do today, don't postpone it till tomorrow. 2 Cor 6:2
3. Do not despise/look down on anyone, because of who the person is today. Don't consider yourself holier than anyone else. A terrible sinner today that repents of his sin and become the HOLIEST in the hands of God.
Don't use what other people are going through now to judge their tomorrow. 

Things we need to do/know concerning our future/end:-
1. We must commit our future into the hands of God
2. Be mindful of where we are going to spend our eternity John 14:1-3. Every decision you make today will determine where we end up. Not everyone that started well will end well, and not everyone that started badly will end badly.
Jesus Christ loves you and wants you to spend eternity with Him in paradise.

People don't care about what you know until they know that you care. Compassion and mercy are of the Lord. 

We cannot separate Christianity from acts of kindness/doing good. We can't successfully reach out to souls without first showing kindness

Lamentations 3:22-23

To whom should we show kindness?

1. The widow - James 1:27

2. The orphans

3. The household of faith. Joshua 2:1-END

4. Our neighbors and perishing individuals, Gal 6:10

The benefits of kindness: 

1. The kindness you show today can speak for you tomorrow, 2 Sam 9:1-13

2. Acts of kindness can bring salvation to our household. Joshua 6:25

3. It authenticates our profession that we are God's children INDEED! Matt 5:13-16

4. It attracts eternal blessings. Matt 25:34-37

Anyone that knows good and fails to do it, to him/her it is SIN. Anyone that does evil unto his/her brother, evil will not depart from that household.

Prayer Point: Almighty God, I want to resemble You in character and in the way I do things. I want to be a genuine Christian. Please don't let me give up in doing good. The same way Jesus was known for going around doing good, please also let me known for good things.

- When you lack Enthusiasm for the work of God
- Lack of love towards brethren
- Not seeing the good/positive side in people
- Rationalizing your mistake and trying to justify yourself against the scriptures
- Not believing in Eternity (heaven or hell)
 - Embracing things that you once detested

Causes of loosing First Love
- Due to dissapoint
- Hope Deffered
Solution: Even though humans could forsake you, God will never forsake us

Title - The Battle of the Heart

There is a constant war the devil fights against everybody in the world today.

He has no respects for the status possessed by any. Not the rich nor poor, not the kings or servants.

The War is of the The Mind/Heart of humans. The devil's goal, is to place anxiety in your heart

However God wants you to know he has the solution. Philippians 4: 6-7.

All those things troubling your mind, pour it out to God.

 In prayer, Supplication and with thanksgiving pour out your hearts to God.

For example those facing depression and do not know the way out,  may commit suicide. 

Some may turn to alcohol, drugs even sex. It may make you happy for few minutes but once you become sober, you are back to your former depressed state.

What is troubling your heart today ?

Pour out your heart to God

- In prayer, Supplication and Thanksgiving 

Make your anxiety made known to God.

Our God, who has the solution to all our problems will give you peace in Jesus Name.

Title - Importunity or Persistence in Prayer

Bible Passages:- Isaiah 43:26, Luke 9:62, Mt 24.13.

The message of today is especially for those of us who have concluded that there is no need to pray (Luke 18:5)

May the Holy Spirit drop encouragement in our hearts and give us the willingness to pray.

There are moments in our lives we need to stay ALONE with God. (no distractions).

Although Jesus took 3 of his disciples with Him to the mountain (Matt 26:39-44), he had to pray alone begging God that this cup (dying on the cross) will pass away from Him. Yet not His Will but God's Will.

The point Jesus wanted to pass across to us in this passage is that when going before God:

1. Know what you want from God

2. Check if it is the will of God

3. Keep praying till you get answers to your prayers

Why to be persistent in Prayer 

1. God wants us to keep reminding him of His promises Is 43:26
2. He may want to check out the level of our patience Lk 9:62
3. God does not bless halfway Mt 24.13

Below are the prophecies from God through our father in the Lord (Pastor E.A Adeboye).

1. The Lord says the harvest for the 100 days fast will be given this year.

2. The Lord says this year will be full of testimonies, those who have non before will have this year.

3. The Lord says some of you will swim in the river of abundance this year.

4. The Lord says there will be miraculous completion of projects.

5. The Lord says there will be fulfillment of dreams.

6. The Lord says there will be miraculous restoration.

7. God says the song of many will be – The Lord has been good to me.

Note, these miracles don't just occur automatically. However, it could be activated.
