Restitution

Title: Restitution
Teacher: Pastor Paul Orimolusi
Main Text: Luke 19:7–10;  Acts 24:16

Definitions of restitution
  • Putting right what has been done wrongly
  • Restoring what has been wrongly taken
  • Repairing what has been deliberately damaged
  • Making that which was wrong right

Areas of restitution
  • Stolen Goods: Restoring whatever that has been stolen, be it from an individual or corporate   organisation.
  • Marital restitution: This area is also essential. Do not take another man’s spouse no matter the circumstance.
  • Make your Way right in the aspect of tithe. Pay your tithe in the assembly you worship.

Blessings of restitution
Restoring God’s property will lead to
  1. Perpetual victory over your enemy - Joshua 1. Sometimes we fight battles which we are not meant to fight because of lack of restitution.
  2. Open heavens.
  3. Divine healing and joy
  4. Security and protection
  5. Peace of mind – money cannot buy peace of mind.

Refusal to restitute
  1. Enemy will have upper hand - Jeremiah 50:7
  2. Your whole family may be affected - Joshua 7
  3. Delayed blessing
  4. Persistent problems

Steps to restitution
  • Prayer
  • Seek counsel from God fearing people
  • Yield to the leading of the Holy Spirit

Excuses people give for failure to restitute
  • Many people are doing it
  • I don’t want to die poor- Haggai 1:10
  • My mates have gone ahead of me

Conclusion
Make your way right before God and man. Restitution involves giving back and sometimes just sorry may be required. Return everything that is not yours to be blessed

Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled - Sunday 9th December 2012

Teacher:- Pastor Paul Orimolusi
Main Text:- John 14:1

'Let not your heart be troubled' are the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. There are many things in the world today, that can trouble our hearts. But Jesus, being an Omniscience God knew that things will happen to trouble our heart. Yet Jesus Christ encouraged us that we should let not our hears be troubled.

Why does God allow bad things to happen, when He is a good God and when His mercies endures forever

1. God may allow trouble in our lives to draw us closer to Him. When things are going smoothly for us we tend to forget God. We may not draw closer to God when things are rosy. When things are rosy with us, pride may take over and we may feel like we don't need God. The Lord may allow trouble in our lives to draw our attention to Him and make us to love Him better. Luke 12:13-21

2. God may allow trouble in our lives when our ways are not okay with Him in order to chastise us. Heb 12:6

3. God may allow trouble in our lives to lift us up and show forth His glory. You can't be promoted from one class to another before first writing an exam. John 9:1-3

4. God may allow trouble in our lives so that you can use your testimony to encourage others.

5. God may allow trouble in our lives to remind/caution us that this world is NOT our home. Our focus should be on our home in HEAVEN. For example, death is no respecter of anointing. Even highly anointed men of God will eventually die. Be heavenly minded! Don't envy people of the world.

Practical Steps To Take:-

1. THINK WELL and LIVE WELL. Isaiah 51:11, Rev 21:4.

2. PLAN YOUR LIFE. Do not give yourself, everything your eyes desire. Plan very well. Those that FAIL to PLAN, PLAN to FAIL. Be prudent in the way you spend.

3. Don't compare yourself with others. 2 Cor 10:12. The opinion of people does not matter!

4. BE HOLY! Please God, and He will take over your challenges and you will rejoice in His presence.

Prayers:-

Lord in this river of challenges, lack, evil, they will not swallow me in Jesus name. Lord I need your help, keep me holy, faithful and righteous. Lord You are my Helper, I need you! Let me never beg for bread from the hand of my enemy. Lord I will never be subjected to the will of my enemies in Jesus name. AMEN!

The Pain Will Soon Be Over

Night Of Hope

The Pain Will Soon Be Over

Teacher: Pastor Paul Orimolusi
Main Text: Psalm 13:1-5

The difference between a believer and a non believer that are going through the same challenge is JESUS. It is only in Christ Jesus that we can have peace. There is nothing that this world can offer us. There is HOPE for you. There is trouble in the world but in Christ Jesus we can have peace. John 16:33

The Christmas Spirit

Matthew 5:14-16 - New International Version
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

This Christmas spread the love of Christ through your words and actions. Let your life remind others of the reason for the season, the birth of the SAVIOR.

Live A Holy Life - Sunday 2nd December 2012

Teacher:- Pastor Paul Orimolusi
Main Text:- Revelation 22:11-12

Let us stop those things that are not godly. John 8:29. Dedicate your life afresh to God. Pray that you will not receive a shameful reward. You are not like everyone else, you are SPECIAL. You cannot do things that everyone else does. Makes your ways right with God. Whatsoever you are doing in secret, God sees openly. Live your life for JESUS!

To Daddy With Love - Sunday 18th November 2012

Teacher:- Deacon Tolu Adefowokan
Main Text:Matthew 22:35-40

God loves us, He loves everyone. God's love is there for us all, even unbelievers. John 17:23. God's love is everlasting John 13:1.

God releases general blessings unto everyone both believers and unbelievers. BUT! Even though God loves everyone there is a difference between those God loves and those that love Him. God has reserved special blessings for those that love Him.

Love is a choice. We have to chose to love God, it is hard, but the Holy Spirit helps us to love God. Romans 5:5.

God wants to bless us but He desires that we do what He has commanded us in  order to avail ourselves of the special blessings He has for us. Sometimes as believers we miss out on blessings because we don't follow what He wants us to do. One of things God encourages us to do is to LOVE Him.

Examples of those that Loved God in the Bible:-
Abraham
Abraham demonstrated His love for God and went from having nothing in Genesis 12 to  having abundance in Genesis 22.

Joseph
Genesis 29

David
David probably did more wrong than Saul did. But God did not hold it against Him. Throughout the history of the Bible, David was frequently used as a reference point for other Kings.

Job
Job 13:15, Job 1:8. Job lost all he had, but because he feared God and lived an upright life before God, He went from having nothing to being the greatest man in the world.

What does blessings does God reserve for those that love Him.

1 Cor 2:9 - These are not  general blessings, they are blessings that God has SPECIALLY prepared for those that love Him.

Ephesians 6:24 - There is SPECIAL grace + uncommon favor for those that love God.

Proverbs 8:21 - A rich inheritance

James 1:12 - Crown Of Life

Romans 8:28 - All things will work together

Psalm 91 - A whole chapter of Blessings

God cannot be deceived, He knows if you really love Him. Matt 15:8, Pro 23:26, Pro 4:23.

How to show You love God:-

1. Giving your heart over to God. What are you doing with your heart? 2 Chronicles 25:1-2

2. Showing Your fellow men God's love. 1 John 4:18-21

Christianity and Halloween

Between Samhain and Martin Luther

from the October 30, 2012 Khouse eNews issue

October is a beautiful time of year.  Yet Christians, and especially those with children, often struggle to deal with this season. While most understand that stock Halloween celebrations are rooted in the occult, many don't know the broader history behind this peculiar autumn festival.  Still, October has not been wholly given over to the dark side.  There are some historical bright spots for the Church in October, and it's good to turn our attention to the many ministry opportunities available to us even while avoiding those "games" associated with Halloween that can be entries for the occult.

Background:
In ancient Britain and Ireland, the Celtic festival of Samhain ("Sah-win") was observed on October 31, the end of summer. November 1 was the new year for both Celtic and Anglo-Saxon calendars and was one of the most important and yet sinister calendar festivals of the Celtic Year. Settling in northern France and the British Isles, the Celtic people engaged in occultic arts and worshiped nature, giving it supernatural, animistic qualities. (Much like some federal institutions are attempting to enforce today.)

The ancient Druids were the learned priestly class of the Celtic religion. Many of their beliefs and practices were similar to those of Hinduism, such as reincarnation and the transmigration of the soul, which teaches that people may be reborn as animals. The Druids believed that on October 31, the night before their New Year and the last day of the old year, Samhain, the Lord of Death, gathered the souls of the evil dead who had been condemned to enter the bodies of animals.

The Druids also believed that the punishment of the evil dead would be lightened by sacrifices, prayers and gifts to the Lord of Death. (This begins to reveal the strange link between this holiday and the non-Biblical concept of purgatory.)

The souls of the dead were supposed to revisit their homes on this day, and the autumnal festival acquired a sinister significance, with ghosts, witches, hobgoblins, black cats, fairies, and demons of all kinds said to be roaming about. It was the time to placate the supernatural powers controlling the processes of nature.

On the other hand, on October 31, 1517, Martin Luther drove a stake into the heart of many of the prevailing non-Biblical concepts by nailing his famous 95 theses to the Castle Church door in Wittenberg, Germany.  With that, he started the movement known today as the Reformation - the single most important event in modern history. Appropriately, he did this on Halloween.

Modern Halloween Traditions:
Halloween is, for many, a "crossover" involvement in which innocent games can lead to serious entanglement with real witches, neo-pagans, New Agers, and other occultists.  A common pastime is the use of a Ouija board to attempt to contact ghosts or spirits that are believed to be roaming about. This can lead to serious consequences including demon possession. (The case studies underlying William Blatty's The Exorcist indicate that the trouble all began with a child playing with a Ouija board.) Demons have a vested interest in Halloween because it supports the occult, and it also offers novel and unexpected opportunities to control and influence people.

Forms of the occult can include mediums, channelers, clairvoyants, psychics, spiritists, diviners, mystics, gurus, shamans, psychical researchers, Yogis, psychic and holistic healers, astral travel, astrology, mysticism, Ouija boards, Tarot cards, contact with the dead, UFOs, and thousands of other practices which almost defy cataloging - even Harry Potter books and movies can lead innocent children into the occult. Occultism includes Satanism, astrology, Kabbalah, Gnosticism, theosophy, witchcraft and many forms of serious magic. It includes activities seeking the acquisition of "hidden" things - which are expressly forbidden by God in the Bible.

The Biblical View:
Halloween practices can open the door to the occult and can introduce forces into people's lives that they are not equipped to combat.  There is genuine power in the occult, but it is demonic power (Mt 24:24; Acts 13:6-11; 16:16-19; 19:18-20; 2 Cor 4:4; Eph 6:7-11, 22).

Any serious study of Biblical demonology will reveal Satan as the power behind false religion, witchcraft, idolatry and the occult (Deut 32:16,17; Ps 106:35-40; Acts 16:16-19; 1 Cor 10:19-21; 2 Thess 2:9, 10; 1 Tim 4:1ff). The Word of God makes it clear that these are all to be shunned as dangerous. There were many superstitions and false concepts in ancient Israel about which the Bible is silent. However, occultism, in any form, was punishable by death! Why? The spiritual power and reality behind idols involves demons (1 Cor 10:20; Ps 106:37).  The Bible commands us to shun occult practices. Mediums and spiritists are expressly prohibited (Lev 19:31; Deut 18:10, 11, 14 2 Chr 33:6). Nowhere are such practices acceptable.

Intellect alone is insufficient. "If it were possible, it would deceive the very elect." This is another example of the necessity to truly understand the Armor of God as outlined in Ephesians 6.

Carpe Diem:
Yet, this is no time for the Church to turn its back on people or leave them exposed to spiritual danger.  This time of year offers tremendous opportunity for ministry.  Churches can open their doors to children young and old - not only to have harvest parties or trunk-or-treat outreaches - but especially to let people know what is truly behind the occult. Many people believe these "games" are just harmless fun, and are unaware of the very real dangers they can face by dabbling in the realm of the demonic.

Of course, the point is not to terrify people.  The ultimate goal is to point them to the source of true protection, of true salvation, of true hope.   Jesus is the victor.  He's already won the battle, and he is stronger than anything Satan can throw at us.  Even more important, he has triumphed over death for us.  He told his disciples long ago, and still tells us today, "...[R]ejoice not that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven" (Luke 10:20).
